Hi, I’m Jake! Welcome to my blog!
The ability for people to freely engage in meaningful dialogue about important topics has been degrading in much of Western society for some time. This blog has stemmed from a desire to remedy this among those who are religious, the skeptical, and the searching, as well as a desire for creating a space to express my thoughts about certain subjects and contribute to the conversation in some way. And therefore, my intention for contributing to this blog is to share my reflections on current events, theology, social issues, apologetics, religion, life, culture, politics, etc. from a Christian perspective.
About Me:
I did not grow up as a Christian and my family generally did not attend church. Before my conversion, I had a life that had slowly become full of brokenness, pain, and very unwise and sinful lifestyle choices. But, by God’s grace, He shined a light in the darkness of my soul with His Word and the hope of Jesus Christ for my forgiveness and salvation. Ever since the night that I chose to believe in Jesus’ resurrection and gift of salvation through faith alone in my room, my life has been drastically transformed by God’s power and Word. I strive (emphasis on strive) to live every day in a manner that resembles the words of the Apostle Paul:
“I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me” – (Galatians 2:20, ESV)
I am an ordained minister and have served in several capacities at churches, such as various internships and as a youth pastor. I have also had the opportunity to speak at retreats, camps, and have preached at dozens of churches. I have received a B.S. in Church Ministries with a minor in Psychology, an M.Div. in Christian Thought, and I am currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Theology & Apologetics.
